About The Hotel

The Boutique Hotel is an exciting new luxury hotel opening in the heart of downtown Northampton, Massachusetts. We are seeking an experienced and visionary Hotel General Manager to lead the property through its opening and establish a culture of exceptional hospitality, operational excellence, and team success.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape a new hotel from the ground up while creating memorable experiences for guests and building a high-performing team.

Position Summary

The General Manager will oversee all aspects of hotel operations, including front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and beverage. Local Northampton knowledge is preferred for this hands-on leader who will be responsible for guest satisfaction, employee engagement, financial performance, revenue growth, property standards, and compliance with company, brand, and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate is a people-focused hospitality professional with strong operational and financial expertise who can lead confidently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily hotel operations and ensure consistently high standards of service, cleanliness, safety, and quality.
  • Support the hotel’s opening, including operational setup, procedures, staffing, training, and implementation of service standards.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop employees while fostering a positive, inclusive, and professional workplace culture.
  • Oversee front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, food and beverage, and other hotel functions.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction, resolve escalated concerns, and implement improvements to enhance the guest experience.
  • Develop and execute sales, marketing, and revenue strategies to maximize occupancy, profitability, and market position.
  • Manage budgets, forecasting, labor costs, purchasing, financial reporting, and expense control.
  • Partner with ownership to achieve strategic, operational, and financial goals.
  • Build strong relationships with guests, vendors, local businesses, community partners, and key accounts.
  • Maintain the hotel’s appearance, functionality, and compliance with all health, safety, brand, and regulatory requirements.
  • Use property management systems and other hotel technology to support efficient operations and accurate reporting.
  • Lead process improvements and promote consistent communication across departments.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of progressive hotel or hospitality leadership experience.
  • Previous Hotel General Manager experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional team and oversee hotel operations.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, labor management, revenue management, and cost control.
  • Excellent guest service, communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Working knowledge of food and beverage operations.
  • Experience with hotel property management systems, reservation systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to recruit, train, mentor, and motivate employees.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Additional language skills are a plus.
